Upgrading to the Mac Intel platform with FCP
Red Giant Software Final Cut Pro plug-ins are built using two possible methods available to us.One method is using the After Effects plug-in API for which Final Cut Pro has some legacy support, but is slowly moving out of favor. This support is available in all versions of Final Cut Pro, and is supported on the Intel Mac from version 5.1.
Another method is using the Final Cut Pro's new plug-in API called FxPlug. For more information on FxPlug, see “What is FxPlug" at Toolfarm. All newer Red Giant Software products that run in FCP will make use of the new FxPlug plug-in API. This newer API however does require FCP version 5.1.2 or higher, which is currently a free download from Apple's website for version 5.1 users.
