System Compatibility

What does minimum system requirements really mean?

First our tests have shown these system configurations will maximize the performance of our products.
Secondly, many of our products will work on systems with a lower performance, however these are the minimum system requirements which we support, if you computer does not meet these requirements we do not support the software.

There are four different components of the system that must be met to receive support and maximize performance, see tables below for details.

The computer/CPU & memory or RAM
(i.e. Apple Mac Intel 1.2 GHz, Dell 1.3 Ghz).

The Operating system, or OS
(i.e. Windows XP or Mac OSX).

The Host application
All Red Giant products are plug-ins and require a host application to run, for example Adobe After Effects, Apple Final Cut Pro or Avid. To maintain the highest level of performance, a recent version is required, see the "Host Compatibility" link to the right for details.

The graphics card or GPU
(i.e. Nividia or ATI). Some of our products use the GPU to process images, others are CPU dependant, see below for details.

*Updating from OSX 10.5 to 10.5.2 will in many cases solve this compatibility issue, if you are experiencing issues related to this OSX version, please let us know.

Graphics Card Requirement Some of our products use or require a graphics card for GPU support, similar to Apple's Motion.
